If you’re a regular reader of our blog then you know how important social media is; for smaller brands it can even be most of your PR strategy.
Union Metrics co-founder- and now Head of Social Customer Experience at TrendKite- Jenn Deering Davis spoke on the power of social media when it comes to PR in a webinar yesterday.
You can find the full recording on-demand here, but we thought we’d share a few highlights on the blog as well, including key live-tweets from @TrendKite.
Something we’ve discussed on the blog before is the important of knowing your audience (and what to do when your audience isn’t who you expect them to be).
A key point for sharing content on social: Your audience will vary among social platforms. Be sure you’re sharing the right content in the right places, & don’t assume your audience fits the stereotypes of a platform either (cool teens on Instagram, etc). #SocialForPR

Your social and content strategies will be closely tied to your PR strategy; none of that can stand alone anymore.
Look for commonalities in content that gets shared more to help your content strategy moving forward. Try to create content that your audience wants to interact with; experiment with different formats to see what works best. #SocialForPR

It’s hard to stand out when there is SO MUCH OUT THERE.
“Find that way for your content to stand out where it is.” – @jdeeringdavis
That might mean something other than video on video-saturated Facebook, for example. #SocialForPR
