Back to basics: Don’t skip the easy wins on social

Every once in a while it’s a good idea to check in on the routines you’ve established around your social media marketing to make sure nothing has slipped through the cracks, or gotten repeatedly left off of the to-do list. (It happens to the best of us.)

Make this that time for your brand. You don’t want to let those easy wins go.

Easy win one: Quarterly cleanup

You can use our spring cleaning on social list any time of year to check in on all of your social accounts and clean things up a little to reflect where your brand is from season to season.

If you don’t have a lot of time to spend, just consider doing a quick copy-edit of all of your bios.

If you have a little more time, look at your top-performing and worst-performing posts on each platform and see what you can learn. Then edit your content calendar based on that information.

Don’t put off doing a quick cleaning because you think you have to do a deep-dive or it’s not worth it. A little refresh can make a big difference.

Easy win two: Earned media

We’ve written before about Why earned media is as important as your owned media and especially Why a successful social media strategy depends on owned and earned, organic and paid tactics.

A quick way to give your brand a boost on social is just to make sure that you’re sharing your earned media back on your owned social accounts. This smartly reinforces your voice and presence without adding a lot of extra work.

This is also a great way to address any problems or criticisms of your brand openly and honestly, provided it fits with your brand voice and established communication strategy.

Easy win three: Visual refresh

This one can get as in-depth as you want it to be (for that use this planning guide we wrote last year) and you might have already covered it in the first easy win. But it can also be as simple as refreshing the cover photos you’re using.

If your brand is one that requires a lot of layers of approval, consider setting refresh reminders in your calendar so you can get some easy wins in ahead of time. Future you will thank you.
